What do you actually do?
You look out across a field from inside a moving vehicle. Add a car and it lands in that otherwise uneventful countryside, bounces or crumples, then passes out of view as the journey continues. Add more and the peaceful view becomes a string of small wrecks.
The contrast is the joke: the framing suggests a quiet road trip, while your input delivers something considerably less relaxing. The cows remain part of the scenery. You can’t hurt them, no matter how many cars you drop.
How do you drop the cars?
On a computer, click and drag across the scene, or type on the keyboard. Both let you add cars without learning a set of driving controls. Try a short burst first, then keep going if you want more happening outside the window.
On a phone, use touch to interact with the scene. It works directly in the browser, with no account or installation, and you can follow the action without sound.
Why spend a few minutes here?
The attraction is the impact, the passing landscape and the disproportionate result of a small gesture. It is something to fiddle with for a few minutes, without having to get good at it first.
Who made Road Trip?
Road Trip is credited to shapiro500 and is part of Screen Toys, the same collection as Firewood. Both take a simple physical action and make it the whole attraction.
